Randy specializes in the long-term placement of legal associates, counsel, and in-house counsel. He guides and advocates for his candidates through every step of the hiring process.
Randy joined Mestel & Company in 2018. Previously, he had a distinguished career in law, government and non-profit. As an immigration attorney, he argued before the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and drafted appellate briefs for the Ninth Circuit and Board of Immigration Appeals. Randy also worked on the nationally-recognized case of Romulo Avelica-Gonzales, helping to get his case reopened. He has also obtained asylum for a number of unaccompanied minors from Central America, and has successfully argued in Immigration Court on behalf of his clients. Before working as an immigration attorney, he was Assistant Director of the Los Angeles office of a national civil rights organization and served in the Mayor of Los Angeles’ Office of Economic Development.
Randy earned his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law, where he was a Moot Court briefwriter finalist, and his B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College. He is currently a chair of the Southern California chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s (AILA) Federal Advocacy Committee.
