Avery has an extensive career of recruiting partners for the top global, national, and regional law firms. In addition, Avery works closely on mergers and practice group acquisitions. He has completed numerous individual partner and group placements, and some of the highest profile law firm mergers. With 25 years of recruiting and legal experience, Avery understands all the key elements that make a deal successful from start to finish. He has also been a trusted career advisor to numerous senior government lawyers in their transition to the private sector.
Avery joined Mestel & Company in 1998. Previously, Avery worked in the U.S. Department of Justice as a Trial Attorney in the Tax Division for six years. He joined the Department of Justice through the Attorney General’s Honors Program.
Avery earned his J.D. from University at Buffalo School of Law and B.A. in Government and Politics from University of Maryland. He is the father of two young children and enjoys music, running, and biking on the beach.
